MOSHOFSKY INDOOR PRACTICE FACILITY & DUCK SHOP
University of Oregon, Eugene, Oregon
This facility needed to be large enough to hold a football field and auxiliary areas. It would also have to be tall enough to accommodate the team's punters. The department decided on a 70-foot clearance at the building's center, which would make the roof 82 feet high at it's peak. The massive facility could not dwarf the adjoining Len Casanova Center.
Engineers at Butler Manufacturing's Visalia California plant, working with Chambers Construction and the rest of the project team, modified the building's widespan structural frame system to produce the desired roof and eave heights. The indoor practice area also has a 120-meter, four-lane track with synthetic surface.
